PIA supports Vigan City for new 7 wonders-cities of the world
Media, community partnership vital in crime prevention

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Sept. 10 (PIA6) – The Philippine National Police is counting on the vital support of the media in ensuring peace and order and crime prevention in the community.

Roxas City PNP Station Officer-In-Charge Julio Gustilo Jr. said that the media play a vital role in making the community peaceful and secured.

“Without the public support, the police will not be able to achieve its mission,” he said, pointing out that the solving crimes is a partnership effort of the community and the police.

Gustilo said that he will give focus on the prevention, solution as well as suppression of crimes.

He explained that said thrusts could be realized with the help of partner groups such as the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) and the Barangay Tanods who are their force multipliers.

Gustilo admitted that because Roxas City is a booming area where economic growth and development are evident, crimes such as robbery, burglary by minors, illegal gambling and illegal drugs occur.

He vowed that they will also give priority in addressing the proliferation of illegal drugs focusing on the supply and demand reduction through an intensive information and education advocacies as well as police operation against “big time” individuals who are involved therein.

He also called on the rest of the members of the Roxas City PNP to do their jobs right as the same is expected from them, otherwise appropriate sanctions can be meted against erring policemen.

Gustilo likewise thanked the city government led by Mayor Angel Alan Celino for the all out support given to the cops here to realize their thrusts.

On the other hand, Gustilo said that they are prepared for the upcoming synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections next month.

He said that they are also ready for their deployment plan for the said event here to ensure a peaceful and orderly elections in the city. (JCM/JBG/PIA6)
