SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - Major road networks in Antique was declared passable while power supply still up to be restored.
Engr. Ely Tungala in an interview declared that major roads and bridges connecting Iloilo to Caticlan Aklan were passable of Saturday.
Typhoon Yolanda, Tungala said left a total damaged of P65 million of roads and bridges in Antique particularly in the following locations.
1. Iloilo-Antique Road Km 135 +800 at Ilaures , Bugasong, Antique - Damaged carriageway and slope protection amounting to P50,000,000
2. Iloilo-Antique Road Km 143+003 at Cubay North Bugasong – Damaged bridge approach and slope protection amounting to P10,000,000
3. Odiong, Sibalom-San Remigio-Leon Road – Aningalan, San Remigio – Road slip/depression (gravel road) amounting to P5,000,000
The source further said that the maintenance crew of DPWH has worked 24/7 to restore the highways with local DRRMC, PNP, Philippine Army and concerned government agencies and volunteer groups.
RORO buses are back to their normal route from Antique to Caticlan as well as vans going to Iloilo and northern, Antique and vice versa.
For telecommunications, Globe Telecommunications signal temporarily stopped about 2pm Friday Nov 8 but signal was restored at 9:00pm of the same day.
However, communication lines from Bugasong to as far north are all down when telcos transmission lines also fell to the ground during the strong typhoon. A brgy in southern Barbaza today however can now receive a txt message and call.
As to power situation, power supply in Antique still waiting to be restored .
According to the Antique Electric Cooperative, the National Grid Corporation of the Phil is undertaking a repair of two toppled structures at Sirawagan, San Joaquin to energize the 69KV Miag-ao to Sibalom transmission lines.
ANTECO distribution lines from Anini-y to Ilawod, Bugasong are ready to distribute power after repairs have been made in its damaged structures. However it is still awaiting for a go signal from NGCP.
For northern Antique covering the towns of Laua-an and Sebaste, NGCP reported that 138KV Panit-an-Nabas transmission line 55% of line 136 and five towers of 138KV Dingle to Panit-an were damaged and will undergo massive repair for more than a month as estimated.
To temporarily connect the Capiz, Aklan, and Antique, NGCP plans to repair the 69kv transmission line which will be completed after a month.(JCM/PSM/PIA6Antique)
