OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, Oct. 11 (PIA) – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminds candidates that filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) must be made in person.
It can also be filed by their duly authorized representative, whose authority shall be in writing, under oath and attached to the COC, Atty. Roy Prule M. Ebiza, Provincial Elections Supervisor, said.
This is pursuant to the guidelines enumerated in Comelec Resolution No. 9740, promulgated last July 10, which provides that the COC will not be accepted if sent by regular mail, electronic mail, telegram or facsimile.
Meanwhile, Comelec Resolution 9740 provides that no person shall be elected Punong Barangay and members of the Sangguniang Barangay (SB), unless he/she files a sworn COC in triplicate in the form prescribed by the Comelec with the Office of the City/ Municipal Election Officers (OEO).
Filing of the COC shall be in any day from Oct. 11-17, 2013, except October 13, during regular hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however, if at 4:45 p.m. of Oct. 17, there are still persons intending to file COC present inside the OEO, the Receiving Officer shall prepare a complete list of all the names of the said persons, consecutively numbered and the time of listing.
The persons listed shall be called by announcing each name in the order which they are listed, but any person who is not present when his name is called shall not be allowed to file his COC, Ebiza added. (RCA/PIA10-Misamis Occidental)
