TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 25 (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Cagayan Valley region allocated P545 million worth of farm-to-market road projects regionwide this year.
Engr. Felipe S. Aguinaldo, supervising agriculturist, said the allocation covers the construction of new road networks and rehabilitation of dilapidated and damaged roads in the barangays.
Aguinaldo said the biggest chunk alloted for Isabela province with P229 million followed by Cagayan with P142.5 million.
He said Nueva Vizcaya received P73.5 million while Quirino and Batanes got P55 million and P45 million worth of FMR projects, respectively.
Aguinaldo reported that aside from this allocation, the agriculture department has allocated at least P1.8 billion for the construction of 432 FMR projects in the region from 2013-2016.
Aguinaldo said these FMRs do not only improve the mobility of people, goods, and services but also provide access to employment opportunities and basic social services such as schools and health centers. (ALM/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
