Capiz is ideal for triathlon

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, March 20 (PIA) – Capiz is one of the best areas for the triathlon.

Greg Atienza, chair of the Capiz International Triathlon said Capiz has been acknowledged as  having one of  the best terrain for the triathlon.

The running event will take the route of the tourist destinations and historical places such as the Roxas City public plaza, Panay town’s church that houses the biggest bell in Asia, the new city’s development area at Pueblo de Panay and a lot more.

The Baybay beach which has about 7.5-kilometer shoreline will be the swimming area where a gallery of people will be watching the participants during the event.

The Capiz International Triathlon dubbed Triaksyon 2017 and slated on April 22 and 23 as part of the main activities in this year’s Capiztahan is the first in Capiz.

The sporting event which be participated by both local and international triathletes aims to showcase the province’s sports and tourism destinations.

Atienza said that about 250 triathletes have so far confirmed their participation to the said event but expects that they will overshoot their target of 300 participants to said event.

Meanwhile the DoubleDragon Properties Corporation and ACS Corporation have each given P1-million for the Capiz International Triathlon competition, aside from the budget appropriated by the provincial government of Capiz, he revealed. (JCMJBG/PIA6)
