ILOILO CITY. 17 July (PIA)—Western Visayas is included in  the Build, Build, Build  of the Duterte Administration, with three big projects.
According to Raul Anlocotan, assistant regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority, these projects are the improvement of the Iloilo International Airport worth P30.4 billion; construction of the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge costing about P27.1 billion; and, the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project with P19.3 billion, as stated in the Philippine Investment Program (PIP).
Build, Build, Build is the legacy infrastructures project of President Rodrigo Duterte when his term ends in 2022.
“The Iloilo Airport improvement was drawn up along with other four airports by the Department of Transportation and Communication and will be implemented under the Public Private Partnerships.
The Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge project is being processed by the NEDA Central Office Investment coordination Committee for the conduct of the feasibility study.
“The current administration has a negotiation with China that is looking at extending the bridge to Negros and even whole of the Visayas,” Anlocotan said.
The NEDA presented the projects before stakeholders during the launching of the Ambisyon Natin 2040 in Iloilo City last week.
Anlocotan said the projects are expected to be completed before the end of the term of President Duterte, as these are the priority projects the government is committed to implement.

In a related development, Antique Governor and Chair of the Regional Development Council, Rhodora Cadiao said in a radio interview that it is easy for local government units to get funding for projects as long as there are project proposals.
She said that Antique has received more than P3 billion in infrastructure projects, improvement of hospitals and construction of additional barangay classrooms.
The Regional Development Council has prioritized the provinces of Antique, Guimaras and northern Iloilo.
“The council sees Iloilo to eventually become the economic tiger of the Visayas region,” Cadiao said.  (JCM/ESS/PIA-Iloilo)
