Camarines Sur rolls the red carpet for 2017 Bb. Pilipinas Universe

PILI, Camarines Sur, May 13 (PIA) – Bicol is not only widely known as the home of “Oragons” (mighty people), but the region is also noted as the land of lovely ladies who have stood out in prestigious beauty pageants here and abroad.

 

Just recently, on April 30, another Bicolana, a Camarinense in the person of Rachel O. Peters was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Universe during the pageant’s coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

 

Not only Peter’s family was rejoicing but also the entire province as her mother, Annie Obregon-Peters is a pure Bicolana who hailed from the humble town of Canaman and studied at Colegio de Sta. Isabel, now Universidad de Sta. Isabel. She married Rachel’s dad, a British national and gave birth to Rachel in Bahrain.

 

Doubling up the joy is the fact that Peters is the apple of the eyes and the inamorata of Camarines Sur Governor Miguel “Migz” Villafuerte.

 

For that reason, on May 13, Saturday, a grand welcome was prepared for her, starting off with a grand motorcade which began in Canaman  and ended in the Capitol grounds in Cadlan here.

 

Motorcyles and cars which were part of the long convoy gathered at Canaman market at 2pm before moving towards the main thoroughfares of the City of Naga on to the provincial capitol where a multitude of fans was waiting for the beauty queen.


Peters also received the following special awards: Miss Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit and She's So Jag.

 

She will represent the Philippines in the upcoming 6th Miss Universe pageant sometime this year together with 90 candidates coming from various parts of the globe.  (LSMacatangay-PIA5/Camarines Sur)

US Embassy, UP-IIS host ‘iftars’ in honor of Ramadan
