Tagalog news: OrMin, tinukoy na food supplier ng bansa

LUNGSOD NG CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro, Mayo 15 (PIA) – Planong gawing pangunahing food production area ng kalakhang Maynila at ng buong bansa ang lalawigan ng Oriental Mindoro sa darating na mga panahon.

 

Ito ang binigyang-diin ni Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol sa kaniyang pinaka-huling pagbisita sa lalawigan kamakailan lamang.

 

Ayon kay Piñol, nakatutok ang pamunuan ni Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte sa pagpapaunlad ng agrikultura partikular sa isla ng Mindoro upang maging pangunahing food supplier ng bansa. 

 

Sinabi pa ni Piñol na sa Oriental Mindoro, umaabot na sa 87,289 ektarya ang may irigasyon samantalang 16,701 ektarya naman ang umaasa lamang sa ulan bilang patubig.  Kaya lamang, nakakapag-ani lamang ng palay sa lalawigan aniya, ng 3.7 metriko tonelada sa isang ektarya kada anihan.  Mababa ito kumpara sa apat na metriko tonelada na national average, ani Piñol.

 

Binanggit din niya ang limang bahagi ng programang ipinatutupad ng kanilang tanggapan upang pataasin ang produksyon ng palay sa buong bansa. Una sa listahan ang irigasyon.  Simula 2017, libre na para sa magsasaka ang patubig mula sa National Irrigation Administration.  Bukod pa rito, ilulunsad na ang solar powered irrigation technology.  Pangalawa, kailangan aniya, na maging moderno na ang mga kagamitan sa pagsasaka tulad ng dryer, harvester at iba pa.  Ang pagpapababa sa halaga ng fertilizers ang pangatlo, pang-apat ang paggamit ng hybrid seeds at panglima, ang mabilis na pagpapautang sa mga magsasaka.

 

Ipinaalam din niya ang mga ginawa nilang amyenda sa paraan ng pagpapautang sa mga magsasaka. Nakapagsumite na aniya ang kanilang tanggpan ng panukala sa Kongreso hinggil sa Farmer’s and Fishermen’s Quick Credit Facility kung saan wala ng kailangang collateral para makautang ang mga magsasaka na myembro ng farmer at fishermen’s registry.  Hanggang P50,000 ang maximum na mauutang, ire-release ang loan sa loob ng tatlong araw samantalang lima hanggang 10 taon ang maturity ng loan.

 

Lahat, aniya, ng mga ito ay dahil sa hangarin ng Pamahalaang Nasyunal sa ilalim ng administrasyong Duterte na magkaroon ng rice sufficiency ang bansa.
