LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Mar. 20 (PIA) - - Government job fairs bring employment opportunities closer to the people, and for some qualified and lucky applicants, they are hired on-the-spot.
In the Strawberry Festival job fair here conducted recently in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment and the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, there were 496 applicants of which 19 job seekers were hired on-the-spot.
Elengy Polidi of the Public Employment Service Office said two were hired as skill workers overseas while the remaining 17 were hired as local service crew for local companies.
Polidi clarified that for overseas jobs, they will undergo a process after their interview in the jobs fair.
The job fair indeed helped jobseekers a lot. She shared how driver who hired on-the-spot in last year’s job fair was so thankful of the opportunity.
Polidi has a piece of advice to parents - to let their children finish a course as employers prefer college degree holders even for a bagger. (JDP/SCA-PIA CAR, Benguet)
