Historical fun run promotes Kawit town’s culture and heritage

TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite, July 17 (PIA) -- The local government of Kawit through its tourism office will hold the town’s first ever historical fun run dubbed as “Takbo Kawitenyo” on Sunday, July 23 at the Aguinaldo Shrine Freedom Park.

The said event aims to instill consciousness for the rich heritage of Kawit and appreciation of the cultural practices and historical values this town has to offer.

Kawit Tourism officer Mr. Angelo Aguinaldo describes the event as a “healthy and fun way of running” adding that “more than the famous Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit has a lot more to offer this time to fun-runners in a different kind of race route”.

The route starts at the Kawit Fire Station along Magdiwang Highway and will end at Cavitex – specifically at the historical “Battle of Binakayan” monument.

Famous historical landmarks will be seen along the said route like the Mary Magdalene Church, the Old Tribunal/Municipal Hall, Candido Tirona Monument, the Baldomero Shrine and recreational resorts like Josephine’s Restaurant and Water Camp and the Island Cove Hotel and Resort.

Guests and participants to the event will enjoy the town’s famous products/industries like the “baby bus”, oysters and mussels (raw and chips) and the must try delicacy in Cavite, the hidden “tapsi”.

Fees for the following race categories are:  Php 350.00 (1.5k); Php 450.00 (3k); Php 650.00 (5k) and Php 750.00 (7k).
