Tagalog news: Mamamayan ng Alimit Kasibu, umayaw muli sa pagmimina

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, August 3 (PIA) – Muling umayaw sa pagmimina ang mga mamamayan ng barangay Alimit sa bayan ng  Kasibu kamakailan.

 

Base sa bagong petisyon na isinumite nila sa opisyal ng local government units, Diocese of Bayombong at Department of Environment and Natural Resources(DENR), kinondena ng mga may mahigit 120 na mamamayan ng Alimit ang kasalukuyang mining project ng OceanaGold Philippines, Inc. (OGPI).

 

Ani Governor Carlos Padilla, umaayaw ang mga Alimit residents sa pagmimina ng OGPI dahil sa nagbabantang kalamidad na maaaring sumira sa kanilang ikinabubuhay na hango sa agrikuluta at kabundukan ng Kasibu.

 

Dagdag pa ni Governor Padilla na mariin ang pagbabawal ng mga taga Alimit sa operation ng OGPI dahil  sa diumano’y polusyon nito sa lupa at mga batis at ilog ng barangay Alimit, pagkawala ng kagubatan, istabilidad ng lupa, pagkabuwag ng pagkakaisa ng mga indigenous people at marami pang iba.

 

“Sila ay humihingi ng tulong mula sa iba’t-ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaan sa national at local government units at sila ay umaasa sa tulong na maibibigay para sa kanilang kampanya laban sa large scale mining sa lalawigan,” pahayag ni Gov. Padilla. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
