Vizcaya posts high rate of VAWC cases in CV

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 10 (PIA) – This province has been identified as the highest on the occurrence of Violence Against Women and Children cases in Cagayan Valley region .

 

This was bared by Dr. Herita Macarubbo, Commission on Population (POPCOM) assistant regional director, during the recent meeting of population officers of the province.

 

She said Nueva Vizcaya has 422 cases of violence against women and 256 cases on violence against children with a total of 678 cases.

 

The provinces of Cagayan has 509 cases, Isabela with 446, Quirino with 75 and Batanes with 8 cases.

 

Polie Chief Inspector Myla Paguyo, Provincial Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) chief however attributed the rise of cases on the intensified campaign being undertaken to bring VAWC awareness in the barangays.

 

“The crime rate of VAWC in the province is a positive result on our side but for the others, it is negative. It happened because of the campaign we made to educate our women,” she said. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)

DA: Cagayan Valley is bird-flu free
