CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, August 9 (PIA) – Through an Executive Order, city mayor Evelyn Diaz here has declared August 11, 2017 as special non-working holiday in the city in commemoration of the city's 5th cityhood anniversary.
Diaz said by virtue of Republic Act 10169, otherwise known as the Ilagan City charter, the local government unit of Ilagan then, affirmed by an overwhelming majority of all its constituencies, was proclaimed as a new city in the province on August 11, 2012.
Diaz said the city government has institutionalized the annual celebration of the cityhood anniversary to enable all sectors of society to commemorate this important community event.
She said this year's celebration will highlight the promotion of unity, dynamism and demonstration of harmony of diverse culture, heritage and values among Ilagueños.
"This is an opportunity for all Ilaguenos to appraise their contribution in the city's development and benchmark the collective achievements in the past years," the mayor said, adding that the commemoration envisions to bind Ilaguenos together towards progressive tomorrow illuminating the fundamental ideals of growth and development.
Diaz urged all her constituents to join and be part of the 5th cityhood anniversary where various activities are set to be conducted during the celebration. (ALM/MGE – PIA-2/Isabela)
