DA awards P1.19B farm assistance in Isabela

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, May 10 (PIA) – No less than Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol awarded P1.19 billion worth of farm assistance and projects to the province of Isabela during the farmers’ forum on May 9, 2017 at the Faustino Dy Coliseum in this city.


The assistance includes P325M (rice program), P7.14M (livestock), P26M (High Value Crop Development Program), P78M (corn and cassava), P26M (Philippine Rural Development Project), P229M (Farm to Market Road), P80M (Fisheries) and P50, 000 (Philippine Carabao Center).


Piñol said the amount will be used to boost the agriculture production in Isabela being the top producer of corn.


Aside from the P1.19 billion, Piñol also vowed to provide P100 million to be used as credit assistance to Isabela farmers with minimal interest of 6% per annum.


He said the amount will be course through credit cooperatives and farmers can avail of a maximum of P50,000 loan. (ALM/MDCT/MGE – PIA-2/Isabela)
