ECHAGUE, Isabela, February 17 (PIA) – Residents in this town were urged to venture into organic vegetable farming as alternative livelihood and for pursuing good nutrition and health.
“The municipal government is presently producing vegetable seedlings to be distributed to indigent families here for planting in their respective backyards,” said Mayor Francis Faustino Dy.
He said backyard farming is seen as one of the solutions in addressing malnutrition and poverty among Echaguenos especially families under the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Dy said there are almost 2,000 Echaguenos who are 4Ps beneficiaries, needing assistance of the municipal government to be productive and healthy.
The mayor said more and more people are beginning to see that there is a real benefit to growing one’s own food and making things at home. (ALM/MGE/PIA-2 Isabela)
