CABARROGUIS, Quirino, April 18 (PIA)— The provincial government here, through the Provincial Tourism Office and in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, conducted a 15-day training on landscaping for representatives from the national, provincial, municipal as well as barangay governments recently.
Aurea Martinez, senior tourism operations officer, said the training aimed to equip the LGUs’ representatives with the necessary skills in landscaping management which they can use in their respective places to boost the beautification project of the province.
It can be recalled that the province just launched its “Search for Model Barangay” where 40 per cent of the criteria of judging will come from landscape and beautification and another 40 per cent for cleanliness and sanitation.
For his part, TESDA Provincial Director Romeo Talosig said the training was implemented under the Landscape Installation and Maintenance NC ll (Softscape) where the participants must pass the assessment to be able to have NC ll.
“Since there is no accredited Landscaping TVET Providers in the province, we coordinated with TESDA Kalinga for an expert trainer,” Talosig said.
Prior to the training, the trainers from Kalinga had site visits to the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Restaurant and the Municipal Town Hall of Cabarroguis, the places identified for the practicum, to determine the supplies and materials needed. (ALM/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
