Tagum inaugurates Center for Justice and Transformation

  • August 11, 2017

TAGUM CITY, Aug. 11 -- Starting last Tuesday, 08 August 2017, constituents who are in need of legal help no longer had to travel all the way to the Provincial Capitol to seek assistance from “justice” offices situated there as the City Government of Tagum formally opened to the public its Center for Justice and Transformation (CJT) building at the heart of the city.

Located at Bonifacio Street in Barangay Magugpo Poblacion, the 3-storey building houses Department of Justice’s Office of the Prosecutor, Parole and Probation Office and the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO). It also accommodates the extension office of the city mayor, the Values Enhancement Program (VEP) Office and Public Service Employment Office’s (PESO) center for community-based training for enterprise development.

Mayor Allan Rellon said that the CJT building will provide the personnel of the public attorney and the city prosecutor a wider space to efficiently accommodate their clients, thus ensuring prompt disposition of cases.

The Local Chief Executive is also positive that the strategic location of the building, being in the downtown area of the city, will offer convenience to the public especially to the underprivileged, in as much that this will encourage them to file cases.

“Very convenient na, accessible na. Maengganyo ang mga tawo nga mopasaka ug kaso,” Mayor Rellon quipped.

The establishment of CJT building cements the Rellon Administration’s Good Governance agenda under its EAGLE WINGS flagship program.

Meanwhile, the building will also serve as the training venue for the drug surrenderees of Tagum City who are undergoing the rehabilitation program of the local government. Tagged as TADS or Tagumenyos Against Drugs, these individuals will receive skills training in civil technology, cosmetology, and massage therapy.

The community-based training for enterprise development of PESO-Tagum in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also take place in this building with the first cycle of training to start this 12 August 2017.

The CJT building is the former Sangguniang Panlungsod building, aptly renovated after the transfer of the City Council to the New City Hall. (R. Banias / CIO Tagum)
