Regional Peace and Order Council names new Committee Chairpersons

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, March 17 (PIA) -- Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) named today the new chairpersons of its various committees.
RPOC Chairperson and Bataan Governor Albert Raymond Garcia disclosed that Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado was appointed as chairperson for the Committee on Anti-Criminality with Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino serving as the co-chair.
Moreover, Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda was chosen to chair the Committee on Internal Peace and Security with Guiguinto, Bulacan Mayor Ambrosio Cruz Jr. as co-chair.
For the Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs, Tarlac Governor Susan Yap was appointed as Chairperson with Nueva Ecija Governor Czarina Umali as co-chair. (CLJD/JRAA-PIA 3)
Emergency quick response in PH to get a boost
MANILA, June 24 (PIA) – Soon, emergency quick response in the Philippines will get a boost as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) have teamed up to train Filipino engineers on earthquake emergency quick response.
“The Philippine experience in recent earthquakes showed that there’s a need to build the capacity of local engineers to conduct quick inspection and evaluation of vital infrastructures after the earthquake,” said JICA Chief Representative Susumu Ito.

DOLE issues pay rules for Eid’l Fitr, a regular holiday
MANILA, June 24 (PIA)--Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III reminded private sector employers to pay their workers correctly and observe applicable pay rules on June 26, Eid’l Fitr, a regular holiday.
“As the Filipino nation unites with the Muslim community in celebration of the Feast of Ramadhan, we are reminding employers to comply with general labor standards, particularly with the proper payment of wages,” Bello said.
