NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Aug. 11 (PIA6) – The Talisay City government gave allowances to its 366 barangay tanods and sponsored their skills training.

City Mayor Neil E. lizares III allocated funds for the monthly financial support of the city’s tanods, with each one receiving P 500 for their monthly allowance.

Of the number, 253 tanods have already received their monthly allowance as of August 7 at the Dela Rama Hall New City Hall building, a release from the Talisay City Information Office said.

The tanods also took part in a series of trainings on basic life saving, firefighting and other multi-sectoral concerns to equip them with all the skills and knowledge needed for their job.

Barangay tanods play an important role in keeping peace and order in every barangay, the release said, adding that with meager income they still continue to do their duties and responsibilities as peacekeepers.

The monthly allowance and the training of tanods are likewise “firsts” under the #gwapongserbisyo initiative of the city.

The #gwapongserbisyo is focused and dedicated in bringing beneficial projects and programs for the welfare of the people. (JCM/CBA/PIA6-Negros Occidental)
