Maragusan to host first ASEAN Youth forum in Davao region

DAVAO CITY, August 7 (PIA) - - As the government continues to roll out actin celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the local government unit of Maragusan will host on Wednesday, August 9, the region’s first ASEAN Youth Forum at the municipal gymnasium.

 

More than 1,000 senior high school students are expected to participate in forum according to the pre-registration conducted by the municipal information office.

 

The forum will feature the three pillars of ASEAN – economic community, socio-cultural community and political-security community.

 

Speakers from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Education and the 66th Infantry Battalion were invited to talk about the pillars.

 

Before the forum, the Philippine Information Agency and the municipal government will also launched an information kiosk at the municipal hall, which will carry information, education and communication materials on ASEAN and other programs of national line agencies.

 

PIA-XI Regional Director Efren Elbanbuena and Mayor Maris Colina-Vendiola are expected to launch the kiosk.

 

The Maragusan kiosk will be the 8th of its kind in the province. (PIA11, Michael L Uy)
