TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 10 (PIA) – Following their successful skills training on soft broom making last year, the Saranay ng Kababaihan of barangay Sta. Clara in Sta. Ana town gained continuous support from the provincial government here.
Information Officer Angelyn Lacambra said with the provincial government’s desire to improve their product, another two-day enhancement training or value-added training was provided to the members of the organization.
Lacambra said the training includes how to enhance the soft broom’s color and quality, and how to put letterings on its handle.
Part also of the training is the improvement of packaging of the finish products to increase its marketability and competitiveness in the local market.
The group composed of some 40 women has been assisted by the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office (PNREO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here.
On the other hand, Governor Manuel Mamba has assured full support in providing livelihood opportunities not only to the said organization but also to all Cagayanos especially to the marginalized groups in the province. (MDCT/GVB/PIA 2 - Cagayan)
