PLRC celebrates 117th Public Library Day

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 9 (PIA) - -The Provincial Learning and Resource Center (PLRC) here celebrated the 117th Public Library Day today in partnership with Monsanto Philippines Inc., Tuguegarao City Library and the Cagayan and Kalinga Apayao Librarians' Association.

 

Michael Pinto, PLRC director, said public library is a local gateway to knowledge that provides a basic condition for lifelong learning, independent decision-making and cultural development of the individual and social groups.

 

Pinto informed the public about the achievements and status of the provincial library to include its recognition as one among the STAR LIBRARIES in the country by Beyond Access Philippines in 2015.

 

“We are also the first provincial and public library to have a Destiny Library Manager and automated statistics generator in the country,” he said.

 

In line with the celebration, PLRC conducted a Financial Literacy lecture facilitated by the International Marketing Group, a new concept in the financial industry that assists people who want to help themselves in building their financial foundation and culminating activities to include story-telling activity for the kinder garten pupils facilitated by librarians in the province and cosplay participated by kids. CSC reminds gov’t agencies on random drug tests

QUEZON CITY, May 25 -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminded all government agencies that they have until October 18, 2017 to conduct a random mandatory drug test for their employees. SSS reduces retirement age for surface and underground mineworkers

QUEZON CITY, May 25 -- The Social Security System (SSS) reduced the age for optional and technical retirement of both surface and underground mine workers from the previous retirement age of 55 years old to 50 years old in compliance with Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) Department Order (DO) No.167 S-2016.
