TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 13 (PIA) – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is now offering free digital literacy services through the establishment of the Technology for Economic Development known as the Tech4ED Center at the Provincial Learning and Resource Center here.
The centers are established in rural and underserved areas aimed at helping the public access online gov’t services and learning modules for skills development, digital literacy and non-formal education.
The presence of the Tech4ED centers is contributory to the solutions of issues such as digital divide, unemployment, educational disparity and inadequate opportunities.
The Tech4ED platform has various contents and learning materials classified into six segments to include the eAgri, particularly designed for farmers’ welfare, eMarket which provides greater market reach beyond the entrepreneurs’ community for more economic growth and opportunities and the eEduskills, which is classified as informal education where students will learn through a mix of guided tutorials and self-paced modules.
The eAssist segment provides learning and continuous skills development opportunities for digital inclusion for special sectors of our society especially persons with disabilities, seniors citizens, women, indigenous people, career shifters, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), among others.
eGovServe segment, on the other hand, offers free online application for government transactions like getting a clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), applying or renewal of professional licenses from the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), online appointment of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), securing birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority and other government e-services that require online application as pre-requisite procedure.
