DENR-EMB photo contest extended

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 20 (PIA) -- Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environment Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) region 10 announces its extension of photo contest until 1 June 2017 and is now open for all ages.

With the theme, “Environmental and climate literacy to gender equality," entry photos should showcase women’s leadership, skills and knowledge on climate change prevention that would inspire change across the region and lead to more gender-sensitive strategies and policies that would benefit men and women in the society. Participants should submit photos and images taken anywhere in Region 10 and depicts only positive things or images.

Each participant is allowed to submit one entry only; entry to be submitted must be in full color. Photos in Black and White or Sepia are not allowed. The entry to be submitted should be an image/photo with the corresponding: “Photo title” and “Photo caption”. The caption must indicate the place, time and date the image was taken, and a short description of what the photo is about.

Entries must be e-mailed to bearing the subject: EMB-10 Photography Contest, together with the contestant’s basic information (name/institution/address/contact number). Then, participants will be required to send a scanned copy of any valid/government-issued ID in JPEG.

Photographs should be in digital format/file, no watermark or identifying mark on the images to eliminate any bias during the screening and judging of the submitted photos. At least 11.693x16.535 inches in size(A3) and at least 72 dpi in resolution, in JPEG format, (image should be in landscape).

Submit the file in this format: Filename is your name and artwork title. Example: juandelacruz_photo.jpeg and it should have been taken anywhere from January 2017 to June 1, 2017.

The following photographs or images are disqualified: photographs that have been previously submitted or have won in any local or international photography contest; photographs that violate a person’s rights including, but not limited to copyright and privacy; photographs that contain obscene, sexually explicit, offensive or any other objectionable or inappropriate content; photographs bearing images of public officials, digitally enhanced or altered for creative purposes. Meanwhile, altered images refer to photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, stitched panoramas, high dynamic range or HDR images, etc.) are disqualified. Only minor adjustments are acceptable such as the color, sharpness and contrast.

Photos will be judged according to Relevance to the theme 30%; Creativity 25%; Technique 25%; Overall impact 20%.

Prizes include First Prize: Cash Prize of P6, 000 and a framed Certificate; Second Prize: Cash Prize of P3,000 and a framed Certificate; Third Prize: Cash Prize of P2,000 and a framed Certificate; and Consolation Prize: Token courtesy of Racini and a framed Certificate.

Winning photos will be used for various publications and various materials of Gender and Development of EMB region10.
