LEGAZPI CITY, May 15 (PIA) – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Bicol has warned government workers against unknown individuals introducing themselves as CSC personnel to obtain personal information of government employees through text messages or emails.

“Please be warned against individuals posing as CSC officials or employees who request certain documents through text or email,” CSC Bicol information officer Lynbee Niebla said.

Niebla said their office has received reports from fellow government agencies in the region of an unknown texter posing as CSC Regional Director Cecilia R. Nieto.

“The anonymous sender recently deceived an official of a government agency in Legazpi City to attend a supposed mediation proceeding between a complainant and an employee under her supervision, before the CSC RO 5 office,” Niebla said.

The texter allegedly requested for the daily time record and information regarding the supposed respondent through mobile number 0933-2242-180. The official was asked to email the information.

Niebla cited a similar case that was earlier reported although she did not provide details.

She theorized that the fraud was perpetrated to intimidate an individual or to get sensitive information from other agencies.

Niebla advised government workers to bring suspicious messages like this to the attention of   the Public Assistance and Liaison Division of their regional office here. It may be reached at telephone numbers 482-0699 and 482-0695. (EAD/SAA-PIA5/Albay)
