Carles top tourist destination in Iloilo province

ILOILO CITY, June 19 (PIA6) ---  The municipality of Carles in northern Iloilo was the top contributor to the tourist arrivals in Iloilo province in 2016.
 
Carles is a coastal town that is known as the gateway to the famous Gigantes Islands.
 
Based on the data from the Provincial Tourism Office here, Carles recorded a total of 36,245 tourist arrivals for 2016.
 
The neighboring town of Estancia ranked second with 32,510 tourist arrivals while Guimbal in the first district of Iloilo was third with 31,941 tourist arrivals.
 
San Joaquin town was fourth which accommodated 16,072 tourists while Banate in the fourth district took the fifth spot with 15,569 tourist arrivals.
 
According to the Provincial Tourism Office, the province recorded a total of 252,232 tourist arrivals last year.
 
This figure is higher by 18 percent compared to the 206,204 tourist arrivals recorded in 2015.
 
The province accommodated 248,023 domestic tourists while 4,300 were foreign visitors. (JCM/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)

Albay reports huge increase in quarry income
