ALCANTARA, Romblon, Agosto 8 (PIA) --- Target ng bayan ng Alcantara at San Agustin na masungkit ngayong taon ang hall of fame sa Department of Health (DOH) National Red Orchid Award kung kaya't puspusan ang ginagawang kampanya laban sa paninigarilyo sa mga nabanggit na bayan.

Magugunita na dalawang beses nang nabigyan ng parangal ng DOH ang mga naturang bayan dahil sa pagiging smoke free municipality ng mga ito.

Kaugnay nito, regular na binibisita ng mga Rural Health Unit personnel ang kani-kanilang barangay na nasasakupan para sa puspusang pagpapatupad ng Smoke-Free Ordinance.

Ayon kay Dr. Jobin Maestro, Municipal Health Officer ng RHU Alcantara, nasa full force status na ang LGU para sa pagpapaigting ng Smoke-Free Ordinance at pagbibigay ng karagdagang paunawa sa mga tao na bawal manigarilyo sa mga pampublikong lugar.

Nakatakda namang dumating ngayon ang validation team ng award giving body para bisitahin ang dalawang nominadong bayan upang magsagawa ng Evaluation of Tobacco Control Program ng Local Government Unit.

Kapag pinalad na muling masungkit ng dalawang naturang bayan ang National Red Orchid Award, ang mga ito ay pagkakalooban ng tropeo at sertipiko ng pagkilala mula sa Department of Health (DOH).

Makakatangap rin ang National Red Orchid Hall of Fame Awardees ng P500,000 project grant para sa patuloy na pagkontrol ng mga tobacco activities at may P100,000 ding matatanggap ang Local Government Unit na awardee para may pondong magamit sa pagbili ng mga gamot.(PJF/DM/PIA-MIMAROPA/Romblon)
