Tagalog news: Mga magniniyog sa bayan ng Concepcion, nangangamba sa mapaminsalang cocolisap

CONCEPCION, Romblon, Abril 18 (PIA) --- Nangangamba ngayon ang mga residente ng bayan ng Concepcion, Romblon partikular ang mga nagmamay-ari ng niyugan sa mapaminsalang cocolisap sa kanilang pananim na niyog.

Ayon sa mga ito, kanilang napansin nitong mga nagdaang araw na tila unti-unting namamatay ang ilang mga puno ng niyog sa ilang barangay kung saan pinangangambahan na ito ay sanhi ng cocolisap na una nang naminsala sa ibat-ibang bahagi ng bansa noong mga nagdaang taon.

Labis anila silang nababahala sa nangyayaring pagkamatay ng kanilang mga tanim na niyog kapag hindi agad mapuksa ang mga insektong namiminsala dito dahil ang pagko-copra lamang ang kanilang pangunahing pinagkukunan ng ikinabubuhay.

Anila, hindi pa nga masyadong nakakabawi ang kanilang mga niyog sa hagupit ng bagyong Nona noong 2015 ay nasundan naman ito ng ganitong uri ng salot sa pananim.

Agad naming ipinarating ng mga residente sa lokal na pamahalaan ang natuklasang problema sa kanilang mga niyog kaya mabilis itong pinuntahan ni Joseph Eric Fano, Agriculture Technologist ng naturang bayan upang matingnan at masuri kung anong klaseng kulisap ang namiminsala sa niyog.

Malaki aniya ang posibilidad na dulot nga ito ng salot na cocolisap kaya agad din niyang ipinarating sa pamunuan ng Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Regional Office ang natuklasang problema sa kanilang bayan.

Nangako naman aniya ang PCA na agad nila itong aaksyunan at nangakong magpapadala ng mga tauhan bago matapos ang linggong ito para mapag-aralan ang mga hakbang na gagawin upang masawata ang nasabing pananalasa ng pinaghihinalaang salot na cocolisap.(DE/DM/PIA-MIMAROPA/Romblon)
