CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Aug. 10 (PIA) - - The province of Kalinga continues  to  build on its small infrastructures to  increase people’s  access to basic facilities    with  21 projects funded under the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) with P73 million total allocation.

Engr. Max Mayer Adong, OIC DILG provincial director, said funds were directly downloaded from the Department of Budget and Management to recipient municipalities through their respective bank accounts.

He said Rizal local government unit is allocated P14.7 million for six road concreting projects. Three are nearing completion namely the   Zamora access road, De Sesto access road, and the Manuel Cornesto access road.

Balbalan received P12.5M for the construction of the Kilayon and Babayngan foot bridges, and construction of Pili and Balantoy Level II water systems.

Tinglayan got P9.1M for the construction of Arong, Poblacion, and Amani potable water systems and improvement of Belong-Manubal access road. Tanudan is allotted P9.1M for the upgrading of Tatakkan-Guimoyo access road.

Pasil’s sharer is P8.9M for the concreting of Batong Buhay national road junction to Puapo-Dangtalan access road and upgrading of evacuation center.

Lubuagan was allotted P8.8 million for the construction of Poblacion Level II and III potable water system, and Antonio Canao and Dangoy Level II potable water systems.

Adong said Pinukpuk is yet to receive its share amounting to P10.3M pending the qualification of the LGU to the Seal of Good Housekeeping which is a requirement for availment of the assistance.  But this minimum requirement is being worked out for settlement until September this year when the LGU will come out with its polished performance financial management.

The process of directly releasing funds to the LGUs is good to avoid further hassle causing delay of implementation as in the previous Bottom –Up Budgeting  when it passes through first party conduits with so many documents, Adong said. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
