Local officials, business community welcome Cebu Pacific’s Cotabato-Cebu flight

COTABATO CITY May 18 (PIA)—Another inter-island connection is  strengthened as the Philippine’s Cebu Pacific airline further expands its domestic route network through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cebgo, with the addition of four new routes from Clark and Cebu.

Starting May 15,  Cebu Pacific fly  directly from its Clark hub to two islands daily to and from Caticlan, Boracay and three times weekly (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to and from Busuanga.

Aside from these two routes, Cebgo also offer direct flights between Cebu and Busuanga thrice weekly (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and to and from Cotabato City four times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) starting on May 16.

The Cebu Pacific Air group believes this expansion will not only benefit the locals in Boracay, Palawan and Cotabato, but more so the residents outside Metro Manila, traveling such destinations will definitely be more convenient.

ARMM Executive Secretary Atty. Laisa Alamia said this is a welcome development optimistic the new routes will attract both leisure and business travelers seen to boost both trade and tourism in the area.

“The autonomous regional government is delighted to welcome this new flight and we look forward to the opening of Cebu Pacific flights to other destinations in the ARMM more specifically to Zamboanga City from Cotabato. This flight from Cotabato to Cebu will connect the province of Maguindanao and the City of Cotabato,   both of which are fast growing destinations for business and investments, to the country’s major city and main economic hub in the Visayas the queen city of the south, Cebu,“ she said.

The opening of the Cotabato-Cebu route is a remarkable contribution in the promotion of tourism and trade, facilitating movement of people and goods,and easing major challenge of lack or limited travel options confronting ARMM and Cotabato City, Alamia said   

 “I am confident and hopeful that the new flight will encourage more trade and tourism between these two destinations as it makes the travel and the shipment of goods easier. Cebu pacific will not only be making travel faster and more convenient it is going to facilitate the economic activity in this areas particular in Maguindanao and Cotabato City,” she added.

Cebu Pacific Air offers its all-in one way year-round fare from Clark to Caticlan at P 2,030, Clark to Busuanga at P2,306, Cebu to Busuanga at P 2,778 and Cebu to Cotabato at P 1,994.(LTOBolongon/PBChangco-PIA Cotabato City)
