KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato May20 (PIA) – SOCCSKSARGEN Region has 26 new business counselors that would man the Negosyo Centers regionwide.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 12 regional information officer Vanessa Claire Plena said that this is the third batch of counselors that the office has recently trained in the 5-day Small Business Counselors Course (SBCC), a training sponsored by the DTI and conducted by the UP Institute for Small Scale Industries (UP-SSI).
Plena said, the training aimed to train participants on how to become effective business counselors by giving them adequate information on the different aspects in running a business such as business planning and management, financial management, marketing, among others.
These topics, Plena said will strengthen their business advisory skills that will contribute to their effectiveness and efficiency as business counsellors.
Participants came from the Negosyo Centers based at local government units and one from the Notre Dame of Marbel University where one of the Negosyo Center is based.
DTI- 12 Regional Director Ibrahim Guiamadel who welcomed the participants encouraged them to maximize the learnings from the event to better serve the businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs in their assigned areas.
A noted lecturer, Jaime Guanzon, Jr. of UP-ISSI and Creation of Enterprises, Formation of Entrepreneurs (CEFE) licensed trainer, discussed about client-entrepreneur critical thinking rocess, effective business counseling, business planning and management, and the enterprise assessment report.
He also gave insights on how to diagnose and analyze the production, operations and financial functions of an enterprise
Furthermore, he also conducted costing exercises and taught the counsellors how to make and read the cash flow statement, balance sheet, income statement, total project cost, and financing plan.
Another speaker, Alfredo Derecho of CNC Discovery Corporation discussed “Diagnosing and analyzing the marketing functions of an enterprise” and “Diagnosing and analyzing the human resource function and organization management of an enterprise.”
He gave inputs and real-life examples on the topics of branding, sales and marketing.
Derecho also discussed about the 7Ps of Marketing namely Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Environment.
The counselors also conducted an enterprise visit at Tupi Coffee Growers Association, Inc. (TUCOGAI) and Centrala Alternative Medicine Producers Cooperative.
