DTI 12 opens SOCCSKSARGEN’s 28th Negosyo Center

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato May18 (PIA) – “This is the 28th Negosyo Center in Region 12 and the 6th Center in Cotabato province,” said Regional Negosyo Center Coordinator and Chief Trade, Industry and Development Specialist Ethel Laksmi Gumana.

 

Gumana  was referring to the Negosyo Center at the Tulunan Municipal Gymnasium, Poblacion, Tulunan, Cotabato Province, which was launched on May 12.

 

She said, “currently, there are already 501 Negosyo Centers spread nationwide.”

 

The Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the local government unit of Tulunan launched the Negosyo Center in this booming town with other stakeholders present to witness the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and blessing rites.

 

The unveiling of the Negosyo Center signage was led by Tulunan Municipal Mayor Reuel Limbungan and DTI Cotabato Provincial Director Anthony Bravo.

 

At the occasion, Mayor Limbungan thanked the DTI for their support and assistance in the establishment of Negosyo Center-Tulunan saying, “we need to change our mindset about business. If you have that dream, you must strive hard to achieve it,” he stressed.

 

DTI Cotabato Provincial Director Anthony Bravo said, “as what our Regional Director Ibrahim Guiamadel said, DTI-12 is aiming that there will be a Negosyo Center in every municipality.”

 

Bravo further said that “DTI’s Negosyo Center along with the support of the LGU will  further help MSMEs increase their production, improve product quality, and improve their business management.”

 

The Negosyo Centers stipulated under the Go Negosyo Act or RA 10644 which was enacted by Senator Bam Aquino, aims to bring government services closer to the people, citing the importance of MSMEs in the growth of Philippine economy.

 

“MSMEs comprised 99.6% of the total number of registered enterprises and largely accounted for the employment opportunities and job generation in the country,” Gumana said.

 

She also elaborated the three major functions of Negosyo Centers namely Business Name Registration, Business Advisory, Business Information and Advocacy.

 

“Negosyo Centers can also provide the Certificate of Authority for the Barangay Micro-Business Enterprise (BMBE) and facilitate business permit applications and registration with various government agencies,” she added.

 

“Business Counselors manning the Negosyo Center can also assist MSMEs in Product Development in helping improve the product packaging and labeling, Market Promotions in assisting them in Market Matching and Trade Fairs, Financing Facilitation in helping package loan applications to Financing Institutions, and Investment Promotions in helping find investors, she said.

 

The launching ceremony was highlighted with the blessing rites, ceremonial tossing of coins and candies, and signing of the commitment wall where stakeholders pledged their commitment and support for the business advancement in Tulunan town. (KC/VTP-DTI 12/ACAgad PIA 12)
