KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato, Aug. 9 (PIA) -- “One Team, One City, One Goal.”
This is the ultimate objective that the City Government of Kidapawan wants to achieve as it launched its Five-Year Sports Development Program in the first-ever Sports Summit in the city on Tuesday.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista led the kick off of the program that aims to hone competitive and decorated athletes that would represent the city in major sports competitions.
Under the sports program, the city government, in partnership with the City Sports Development Council and the Department of Education will create a training pool that will focus on taking care of the athletes’s science-based training, nutrition, uniform, quality sports equipment as well as training of coaches.
Other program partners include Philippine Sports Commission, sports clubs and organizations in Kidapawan, private schools and other sponsors.
The Sports Summit also deliberated issues pertaining to the sports development in the city including, selection of athletes, tournament opportunities, building partnerships, and sporting facilities.
With the launching of the Kidapawan City 5-Year Sports Development Program, the selection of athletes who will be enrolled in the training pool will be held on consecutive weekends in September, specifically September 8, 9, 16 and 23.
The “Weekend Games” will be held in different sports venues within Kidapawan City. (LKOasay-City Information Office/DEDoguiles-PIA 12)
