DAVAO CITY, Aug. 11 (PIA) – The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT-XI) Network has launched a Song Writing and Music Video Competition as an advocacy project this year aiming to spread awareness about human trafficking.
The competition is open to all amateur songwriters and music video makers aged 15 and above who are residents of Davao Region.
The song and music video must revolve around human trafficking issues as defined under Republic Act 9208, as amended by Republic Act 10364.
Cash prizes are at stake with the grand prize winner taking home Php 30,000.00, second runner-up Php 20,000.00, and the third runner-up Php 10,000.00. Plaques will also be given away to the winners.
The Song Writing and Music Video Competition was launched during the celebration of the World Day Against Trafficking held last 28 July 2017 at the Abreeza Mall Activity Center, Davao City, which was highlighted with a mini-concert.
The mini-concert saw the performances of the bands from the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Bureau of Fire Protection.
Performances from Global Impact, Child Alert International, Religious of the Good Shepherd-Center for Overseas Workers, and NAKAMATA were also showcased during the mini-concert.
Since its creation in 2011, the IACAT Network XI has conducted a yearly advocacy project in the effort to spread awareness about human trafficking.
Some of the recent advocacy campaign projects of IACAT Network XI were the video-infomercial making contest (2015) and mural painting activity (2016). (IACAT-XI)
