DILG warns vs scammers soliciting nominations as barangay chair

DAVAO CITY, July 14 (PIA) – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has warned the local chief executives not to fall prey to unscrupulous individuals who are soliciting nominations and nominees to be appointed as Officer-in-Charge Punong Barangay or Barangay Chair.

In an advisory from DILG OIC Catalino Cuy which was shared by DILG Region XI, Cuy said that DILG disclaims any connection with any and all other organizations soliciting nominations for barangay chair posts, local government posts or any other posts.

“We do not sanction nor endorse any and all forms of solicitation regarding appointments to government posts,” the advisory stated.

Cuy urged the LCEs and local government functionaries not to entertain the scammers and ignore messages which may ask to “give money, favors or any other matter in exchange for appointment to government posts.”

The DILG official further urged to report scammers to P/SSupt.
