CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 20 --- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) sends out another warning to business owners across the country against activities ran by unscrupulous individuals.
A businessman in Misamis Oriental received on April 18 a call from an individual who introduced himself as DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez.
The caller used the mobile number 09159352936 and directly called the personal line of a tycoon known for various big and established businesses in Northern Mindanao.
This individual requested the businessman to donate and to contribute amounts of money to help Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
DTI urges the public, most especially business owners, to ignore requests from questionable individuals. If unsure of any queries and requests from doubtful entities, it is best to confirm if their activities are legit by visiting or calling the nearest DTI office in your area.
Further, DTI reminds the public that the agency never asks for donations in any form nor uses third-party group nor individuals in collecting fees and reaching out to the public regarding the agency’s programs. (DTI-10/PIA-10)
