CAPITOL COMPOUND, Misamis Oriental, Aug. 11 -- The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental is ready to assist the reported 73 families who evacuated at Opol Elementary School in Opol town since August 7, 2017, but would need to wait for the validation from the municipal government’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
Governor Bambi Emano said soon as the MDRRMO has already transmitted the validation report to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), they will act accordingly in whatever way possible to aid the evacuees who hailed from the remote village, Brgy. Nangkaon in Opol.
The refugees left their village following reports of the presence of armed men in their locality they suspected as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) that gunfight could erupt anytime between the rebels and the government forces. “This can only be our intervention. As to the investigation of the incident, we leave it to our Philippine Army (PA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) considering that we are still under Martial rule,” Governor Emano said. (PIO)
