CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug. 11 – Cagayan de Oro City and the city of Yantai in the province of Shandong, People’s Republic of China will soon have closer ties.
The City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy adopted a resolution accepting the offer of the city of Yantai to enter into or forge a sisterhood relationship or twinning agreement to enhance mutual understanding, goodwill and friendship between the peoples of both cities.
Closer ties between the two cities will also strengthen friendly cooperation on the various dimensions of local governance and assure peace and prosperity for both cities.
The agreement cites that both cities will seek the possibility of establishing a cooperative relationship and carry out exchanges and cooperation in various forms in the fields of economy, trade, science, technology, culture, sports, education, health, tourism, and personnel, among others to enhance mutual development and prosperity.
In his letter to Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, Mayor Oscar S. Moreno said a delegation from Yantai will be visiting the city on August 18, 2017 and it is their wish to undertake the signing of the agreement around that date.
When the agreement is signed, both cities will assign their respective liaison officers responsible for regular contact between the two cities, to facilitate and coordinate friendly exchanges and cooperation. (SP)
