TAMPILISAN, Zamboanga del Norte, August 8 (PIA)--- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently launched here the Project Converge-Zamboanga del Norte Cluster Integrated Rubber Enterprise.

DAR-9 Regional Director Julita A. Ragandang said the Project Convergence for Value-Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment (Project Converge) is one of the support services provided by DAR to the small farmers in the four municipalities of the province, especially those  engaged in the  rubber industry.

Aside from Tampilisan, other beneficiaries of the project are the municipalities of Godod, Salug and Leon Postigo. “We are spreading support services to the small holders especially those engaged in rubber to link their product to the market,” Ragandang said.

In the implementation of the project, Ragandang pointed out the cooperation of the farmers and market analysis as the most important factors in the success of the project.

The P819-million project, which will be implemented in 5 years is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The regional director pointed out that no government project will ever succeed if the beneficiaries themselves are reluctant to participate.

DAR-Zamboanga del Norte head, PARPO II Mohammad Dassan Adju also challenged the farmers to be present in all meetings to be updated on the development of the project.

During the launching, Godod Mayor Abel Matildo and representatives of the mayors of the 3 municipalities and 3rd District Congressman Atty. Isagani S. Amatong assured their support as well as readiness to extend any assistance to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

The day’s activity culminated with the signing of Commitment of Support by all stakeholders.  (ALT/ATR/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte
