SAGUIARAN, Lanao del Sur, July 4  (PIA) –National Youth Commission Chair Cariza “Aiza” Seguerra, popular singer-actress, on Sunday visited the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Lanao del Sur.

Seguerra’s visit to the province is part of her advocacy to the youth in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to learn more about the problems that they are confronted with.

The 33-year-old singer visited the municipal gymnasium of Saguiaran town  which is being used by the local government as an evacuation center.

DSWD Region X declared Saguiaran as one of the 13 open evacuation centers of the Marawi clash.

Seguerra took a quick walk around the evacuation center that was packed with about 625 families or 3,701 individuals before moving to the stage to sing.

“Nag-request po sila na kumanta ako, kaya kinantahan ko sila para maging maligaya sila (They have requested me to sing, so I sang to make them happy), Seguerra humbly said.

The singer-songwriter’s visit was also to show sympathy to their difficult situation especially the Maranao youth.

“Kailangan nating alagaan ang mga kabataan dahil sa kanila nagsisimula ang kapayapaan at pagkakaisa (We need to take care of the youth because it is through them that peace and unity start),” she added.

“Nagpapasalamat po ang municipal government ng Saguiaran sa pagbisita ni NYC chair Seguerra dahil pinasaya po niya ang lahat ng mga malungkot na IDPs sa kanyang mga awitin. Masayang pinakinggan ng mga tao ang kanyang mga kanta,” Alexander Mustapa, municipal information officer said.

Mustapa wishes that the crisis in Marawi City will end so that residents will no longer suffer and return to their homes to live  a normal life.

Hundreds were killed, injured and displaced by the skirmishes between government troops and Maute terror since May 23 and officials have struggled to keep up with humanitarian aid demands. (ALT/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
