DIPOLOG CITY, May 12 (PIA) – The ASEAN Regional Communication campaign of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-9 dubbed “PIA-ASEAN Zamboanga Peninsula Roadshow” culminated here on Wednesday, May 10.

The caravan, which included the launching of PIA-ASEAN Info Kiosks and multi-sectoral fora disseminated information on the ASEAN, available down to the grassroots level started on May 8 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, and May 9 in Pagadian City, respectively.

During the launching program of the PIA-ASEAN Info Kiosk,  Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy in his message said the twin activities that the PIA conducted provided an opportunity for the people to know the benefits that they can get from ASEAN.

Uy said the ASEAN community in which the Philippines is one of its members, fosters good relations that promote economic growth, social progress and political interaction.

“With the good relations among these countries, I am optimistic that we will have not only a peaceful nation but a peaceful region as well, Uy added.

“I am grateful that the PIA has put up an PIA- ASEAN Info Kiosk at Lee Plaza Mall,” Uy said adding that thru the kiosk, the public can obtain IEC materials with relevant information on ASEAN.

In a related development, Regional Director Noemi B. Edaga underscored the importance of the need of Filipinos to know ASEAN. “As a member country, everyone can avail of the countless opportunities in the ASEAN cooperation,” Edaga explained.

“We launched the PIA-ASEAN Roadshow here for the people to know the benefits it can offer to them,” Edaga added.

Mernalyn Binondo, senior store operations supervisor of Lee Plaza City Central said that the management is very fortunate that PIA has chosen their establishment to be an ASEAN advocacy partner.

“We are grateful that you have trusted our establishment to be an avenue for promoting and informing  the public of ASEAN’s objectives,” Binondo proudly said.

“It is a great pleasure and honor that we are one of your partners in crafting change in a community of caring societies,” she concluded. (ALT/GCC/PIA-Pagadian City)
