Northern Samar reaches its 52nd

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, June 16, (PIA) - The provincial government of Northern Samar will commemorate its 52nd Founding Anniversary since the province was created under Republic Act No. 4221 and approved by Congress on June 19, 1965.

The RA in effect,  divided  the whole Samar island into three independent provinces, that of Northern Samar, Western Samar and Eastern Samar.

Mr. Rei Echano, Provincial Information Officer and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer shared, that for the celebration, several events are lined up, which Governor Jose L. Ong, Jr. encourages every Nortehanon to join in.

The week-long celebration  started  on June 14-15 with a Training on Tour Packaging at Bahay Pinoy and on the 16th, the day is set for Fasting/Random Blood Sugar Test and Pneumococcal Vaccination at the Capitol Lobby. There will also be a boxing clinic on June 16-18 at Ibabao Hall, New Capitol Building.

On the Big Day, activities will start at 5:00AM with  a Fun Run followed by an Anniversary Mass at the Capitol Grounds. A Flag raising ceremony and commemorative program will follow on the same venue.

Highlights of the celebrations will center on the Ceremonial Distribution of Agri-Equipment (Patrol boats, Pump Engines and Irrigation Pumps) and Opening of Trade, Tourism, Culture and Arts Exhibits.

Honoring of PGNS Retirees will be done over lunch with the Governor at Ibabao Hall and in the afternoon, an Amateur Boxing Tournament follows at Catarman Covered Court.

From June 19 to 23, there will be a 3-day Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Showcase at PDRRMO Grounds and Trade, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Exhibits at Capitol Lobby.

June 20 is set for Mass Blood Donation, June 20-21 Medical and Dental Services at Allen Sub-Provincial Jail and Laoang Sub-Provincial Jail. Zumba Fest is also set at 5:00AM on June 20,21 and 23 at Capitol Grounds.

June 20-23 will be for Veterinary Services at Capitol Grounds, on the 21st will be a Jobs Fair at Ibabao Hall and on the 23rd will be the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit at UEP Gymnatorium.

The 52nd Founding Anniversary of the province of Northern Samar is anchored on the theme: “Pag-undong san Agrikultura ngan Turismo, dalan sa Sustenabli nga Kauswagan” (Promoting agri-tourism towards progress and prosperity).

All events are also anchored on “CHANGE,” the core agenda of Governor Jun Ong’s administration which stands for Community empowerment, Health services for all, Agro-industrial development, Good governance and Eco-tourism promotion and management. (ADiaz/PIA8-Northern Samar)

Albay reports huge increase in quarry income

Pangasinan school accepts transferees from Marawi

SSS formally opens its newly-relocated branch in Capiz
