CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, June 19 (PIA) - Some 500 runners joined Catbalogan City in its 4th Iskolar Run on Friday, June 16, 2017.

The runners indirectly support the city scholars by shelling out some P400.00 to support its 200 scholars.

Mayor Stephany Uy Tan and Vice Mayor Art Gabon led the runners that took off at 7 PM after a warm up activity Zumba dancing at the city plaza.

This is the 4th year that runners have been supporting the cause and each time runners reach 500 or more.

One barangay kagawad who is a senior citizen said that while he would have wanted to run, his aging feet could only disagree. He registered, joined zumba and just watched the younger generation run.

The Iskolar Run route started from the city plaza to Camp Vicente Lukban the biggest army camp area which is about 2.5 kilometers and another 2.5 kilometers return run to the city plaza for a total of five kilometers.

The Iskolar Run was also part of its 10th Charter Day celebration with other activities such as Walk for Peace, Pasasalamat, Kitchie Nadal concert, mangrove planting and the launch of the first ever stand-alone Catbalogan City Agricultural and Industrial School.   (ajc/nbq/ PIA8-Samar with reports from Jun Arceno)
