Filipino Feature: Manager ng IBM, Makata ng Taon 2017

QUEZON CITY, March 16 - Hihiranging Makata ng Taon 2017 si Aldrin P. Pentero, isang manager ng IBM, para sa kaniyang koleksiyong Moonlight at iba pang tula sa pagbubukas ng Buwan ng Panitikan ng Filipinas, sa ika-1 Abril 2017, sa Orion Elementary School, Bataan.

 

“Sa panahon ngayon na kitang-kita ang kakayahan at kapangyarihan ng salita, naging napakahirap sa akin ang ibulalas ang sariling tinig.” sabi ni Pentero. “Nagpapasalamat ako na may nakinig.” dagdag pa niya.

 

Kasapi si Pentero ng Unyon ng mga Manunulat ng Pilipinas (UMPIL) at naging fellow sa mga workshop gaya ng IYAS at Palihang LIRA. Lumabas na ang mga tula niya sa Ani, Liwayway, Librong LIRA, at Tudla at Tindig.

 

Nagkamit ng ikalawang gantimpala ang “Balak na Maikling Dokumentaryo Tungkol sa Isang Binatilyo sa Badjao Village” ni Michael Jude C. Tumamac at ikatlong gantimpala naman ang “Rebisyon” ni Paul A. Castillo. Mulang General Santos ang gurong si Tumamac samantalang insruktor si Castillo sa Unibersidad ng Santo Tomas.

 

Bukod sa paghirang na Makata ng Taon 2017, tatanggap si Pentero ng PHP30,000.00 at tropeo mula sa KWF. Tatanggap naman sina Tumamac at Castillo ng PHP20,000.00 at PHP15,000.00 nang magkahiwalay.

Umupo sa lupon ng inampalan ang mga iginagalang na makatang sina Rogelio G. Mangahas, Jesus Manuel Santiago, at Dr. Michael M. Coroza.

 

Mula pa noong 1963, kinikilala na ng Talaang Ginto ang mga batikan at umuusbong na makata sa wikang Filipino. Ilan sa mga nagwagi rito ay mga haligi na ng panulaan at panitikang Filipino gaya nina Bienvenido Lumbera, Rogelio Mangahas, Lamberto Antonio, Virgilio Almario, Cirilo Bautista, Ruth Elynia Mabanglo, Mike Bigornia, at iba pa.(KWF)
