More than 30 national agencies led by its respective agency heads with approximately a thousand government workers participated in the event.

According to GAANO President GSIS Branch Manager Mercedes VPE Enriquez, the association aims primarily to establish among workers in the national government better relationship, camaraderie, and linkages as public servants of Negros Oriental.

A program that highlights the event is the search for the Miss GAANO 2017 with 23 contestants, exhibiting their beauty and poise, said Enriquez.

Winner for Miss GAANO went to Department of Education Division of Negros Oriental, Akine Marie Cardiente, and runner up winners include Clarisa Plandez of National Food Authority and Dizzy Casero of Philippine Statistics Authority.

Larong Pinoy games were also played and facilitated by  the  Dumaguete City Sports Coordinator Ike Villaflores.

Enriquez said the activity is in compliance with Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memo Circular No. 38 s 1992 and in preparation for the GAANO inter-office health and wellness event for the 2017 Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in September 2017.

“This GAANO event is planned sometime in January 2017 by the officers of the association with Atty. Gina Crucio, Director of the Civil Service Commission, and Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, ARD–NIR, Department of Education,” said Enriquez. (jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
