Bayawan City to conduct city-wide EQ drill

BAYAWAN CITY, March 15 (PIA) – Urban villages, schools, and private establishments in Bayawan City  are urged to take part in the city-wide earthquake drill dubbed “The Big One” on March 24 at 3:00 p.m. in the city.

The city government through the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) will hold the drill to assess the capabilities of disaster response and disaster preparedness.

According to the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer II Siegfred Kent Uy, scenarios such as road accidents, river crossing, fires and tsunami incidents are designated in different areas of the city that will give information and prepare the people if these incidents will happen.

The coverage of the drill will be from Negros Oriental State University Bayawan-Sta. Catalina Campus which is the boundary of Sta.Catalina town and Bayawan until in Barangay Pagatban, the boundary area of Bayawan and Basay town.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) is one of the evaluators that will critique the drill to give assessments for the improvement of the city in terms of disaster preparedness.

LDRRMO II Lester Jay Camarillo added that since the city has not identified yet the evacuation centers, they will use the city plaza and an open area in the public market as immediate evacuation centers for the drill.

QUEZON CITY, March 31 --  State-run Social Security System on Thursday said it has released about P71.84 million to its partner banks for the P1,000 additional benefit of the first batch of pensioners under special cases.   SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. QC opens animal bite treatment center in Batasan

QUEZON CITY, March 31 (PIA)--Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista recently opened a satellite animal bite treatment center in Barangay Batasan Hills.   The newly-inaugurated center now brings to two the number of animal bite facilities maintained by the QC government.
