NEGROS OCC., May 18 (PIA6)—Police Regional Office 18- Negros Island Region Director Chief Supt. Renato Gumban stressed the need for a livelihood aid and monitoring of those who underwent drug rehabilitation.
Gumban said the NIR regional directors believe a livelihood project will help those rehabilitated live normal lives while monitoring them will tell whether the rehabilitation was effective.
He said the livelihood will give sustainability to the drug rehabilitation program of the NIR.
According to Gumban, the DSWD can provide the livelihood programs while the LGUs can do the monitoring.
LGUs should create anti-drug abuse council and provide budget for it. They should also see to it that members of the Barangay Drug Abuse Council, BADAC are not involved in drugs, he said.
During a recent NIR Regional Peace and Order Council Meeting in Bacolod City, Gumban confirmed there is a list of barangay officials who are into illegal drugs but he said he has no copy of it. (JSC/Lljr-PIA6)
